A novel called 'Of Mice and Men' by John Steinbeck, is about two migrant field workers in California during the Great Depression George Milton, an bright man, and Lennie Small, an man of strong abilities but with mental abilities come to a ranch near Soledad southeast of Salinas, California to "work up a stake." They hope to one day attain their shared dream of settling down on their own piece of land. Lennie's part of the dream, which he never tires of hearing George describe, is to tend to soft rabbits on the farm. George protects Lennie at the beginning by telling him that if Lennie gets into trouble George will not let him "tend them rabbits." They are fleeing from their previous employment in Weed where they were run out of town after Lennie's love of stroking soft things resulted in an accusation of attempted rape when he touched a young woman's dress. At the ranch, the dream appears to move closer to reality. Candy, the old, one handed helper at the ranch, even offers to pitch in with Lennie and George so they can buy the farm by the end of the month. The dream crashes when Lennie accidentally kills the young tart wife of Curley, the ranch owner's son, while trying to stroke her hair. A mob led by Curley workers. George, realizing he is doomed to a life of despair like the rest of the migrant workers, wanting to spare Lennie a painful death at the hands of the violent Curley, shoots Lennie in the back of the head before the mob can find him after George gives him one last retelling of their dream of owning their own land. A list helps me to remember the important points of this book. If you list the beginning to end of a book, short story or poem, you will remember everything.

 On the “What Kind of Reader Are You” quiz, the genre that matched my scores was Fiction.

The description of Fiction is: You like to escape when you read. You enjoy stories that tell you about something other than your normal life. As long as it’s not real, it’s up your alley. This description describes me perfectly I’m always buying books from Barnes and Nobles about vampires or impossible occasions. There is so much poverty, violence, and depression in “today’s world.” It’s nice to escape from the real world and relax with a book in your hand. 

The last thing I read was a love quote on an app on my iphone. The quote reads: If you cannot inspire a woman in love of you, fill her above the brim with love of herself; all that runs over will be yours. – Charles Caleb Colton … I enjoy this quote extremely because this is very true to my life. When I’m in a relationship with a man, he has to prove his love for me, that he is only interested in me and only me. If you bring joy and happiness to my life where I have plenty to give around, then you passed.
